![]() ![]() And we're also going to take this and hit Ctrl+C and Ctrl+F to create the duplicate. So, we're going to zoom up a little bit by using the Zoom tool by clicking and dragging just around the general area at the top. And we're not just gonna have coffee sitting in it, we're gonna look, make it look like there's some action, or if it's being thrown or something, just so we can see, we can create an interesting sort of shape for the coffee. All right, so now what I wanna do is create the coffee inside of it. Actually, you could probably stand to make it just an off grey, just so we can see this handle here. Okay, so we're going to make this white as well. So looking at it with 100% with control one, this looks pretty good as is. ![]() And move that up, that handle right there. Up here it looks like a little bit of work could be used, so let me zoom up. And see if there's any adjustments that do need to be made. And roughly right here and then bringing it back, connecting it to the original point. One second while I back up, there we go, and we're gonna come up back around, making thicker near the outer edge of this. So now we wanna come back around this, and we'll start just down here and left-click and drag. Actually, we could probably intersect it, so it's the top point right there. And then another one right, roughly I'd say, right around here. And we're just going to left-click and create a Bézier curve, very slightly, roughly right around here and then come back down, and we'll intersect the vertical position of that top portion and create a Bézier curve right there. So select the Pen tool, and the handle will be off to the side. So now we need to create the handle, so the handle we're going to use the Pen tool. And looking at this, you can also select it and use your mouse arrow keys, and maybe move it up if you need to, and for now, that looks pretty good right there. ![]() So now this is the top, and the inside of the cup. And then also left-click on this side anchor, and hold Alt, and drag it out a little bit, so that it's even all the way around. So we're going to left-click, hold Shift and Alt and scale it in, roughly right around there. And we're going to scale that in a little bit. And real quickly, I will move this to the top. What we want to do is, we're gonna make it a dark brown right around here. So, with the shape at the top, actually, we can bring this back. So now, we have this shape here and then this shape up at the top. All right, so now we have basically two copies of this top layer we can hide, just temporarily hide one of them for now. And the reason being we're gonna use something called the Gradient Mesh tool and I think it would be, it would have a nice effect if we left this portion intact. Thinking about this, I, I may want to back up just a one step, I, because I think I may only want to include this top portion here as a part of that selection. And now we can use the Shape Builder tool, and we can left-click, and all of them now are on the same path. So now we have these three shapes that we created selected. And then we can hold Shift and select these top two as well. All right, so I'm going to hit Ctrl+H, so we can view our paths here, and we want to select the one that's beneath it, which is right here. So we want to maintain this oval right here, so we'll go to Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+F. So first before I connect these, I want to make a copy of this top portion because we want to be able to be looking as though the top of the cup we can see the inside of it. So now, at this point, that's when we want to use the Shape Builder tool to build this shape out. So now it looks like we have the generalized shape of a coffee cup. So that it meets the path's eye on all four sides. Then we're going to use the Rectangle tool, and we're gonna click right on the path and left-click and drag out. Left-clicking and moving down approximately the height of an actual coffee cup. And we're going to take this, and we're going to copy it Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+F and hold Shift. You can also use the Zoom tool if you wish. All right, so I'm going to zoom up holding Alt and my scroll wheel. And the color of it, we want to be for now, white. Now we don't need a Stroke, so we can get rid of that. And so what I'm going to do is, we're just gonna start here somewhere in the center and hold Alt and left-click and drag out roughly an oval around this size. So I, for the coffee cup, we're going to create it here, in a few with a few different shapes. That way we can work without being able to select any of them and move them around accidentally. So first, before we, we begin, I want to take all these layers, and we're going to group them up. Hello, and welcome to this lesson where we're going to create the coffee cup. ![]()
